Matriarchs, El Segundo Museum of Art

MATRIARCHS is curated by two Indigenous curators — Kristen Dorsey (Chickasaw Nation) and Jaclyn Roessel (Diné)– and featured multiple works by 12 contemporary womxn Indigenous artists representing 14 Indigenous communities. Four artists represented communities Indigenous to California. Featured in the experience were an array of mediums including fashion, metalwork, photography, painting, basketry, and video.

The Panther Woman Collection

This video and look book was produced for the Panther Woman Collection. It was filmed/photographed entirely underwater and was designed to capture the mystery of the panthers indigenous to Chickasaw homelands of the Southeast The Panther Woman collection celebrates the contributions made by our female leaders throughout the centuries and is named after a historic female battle strategist from the 1800s. I provided art direction, hired the photographer/videographer Chiara Salomni, model Brandie Bondoc and hair/makeup artist Bernice Gallegos. I also designed the wardrobe, set and developed the shot list and beauty inspiration.

The Hatchet Women Collection

This video was created for the Kristen Dorsey Designs website and social media to promote the Hatchet Women Collection. After completing this collection in honor of the historical Chickasaw Hatchet Women, I developed the video concept, wrote the script, hired the videographer Flynn Mitchell, lighting assistant Logan Mitchell, hair/makeup artist Donna Gast, and cast Dr. Shannon Speed as the talent. I believe in accurate Native representations so Dr. Speed was the perfect fit for this role because she is a prominent Native Studies scholar/professor and Chickasaw Nation citizen well know to the Kristen Dorsey Designs client base.

The Shokmalli’ Collection

This film was produced to launch the Shokmall’ collection for Kristen Dorsey Designs web and social media. I hired a talented team: videographer/photographer Anthony Collins, model Lacey Bollinger, hair/makeup artist Paloma Alcantar, and stylist bethany yellowtail. I provided the art direction.
